Testing and Evaluation
Psychological and neuropsychological assessment (also referred to as “testing”) is a structured process for understanding how someone processes information. Through a combination of interviews, standardized assessments, and observation, we gather information about cognitive abilities, academic skills, attention, memory, executive functioning, and social-emotional health.

how we work
Approach to Assessment
Our assessments are thorough, grounded in evidence, and designed to give you answers you can use in real life, not just on paper.
Individualized
We do not use one-size-fits-all test batteries. Your evaluation is tailored to your specific questions, goals, and your child’s unique developmental story.
Realistic & Actionable
Our reports are written in plain language and designed to be used—not hidden in a drawer. Families often describe them as “a roadmap for what to do next.”
Strengths-First
Knowing where a person’s strengths are helps us understand what type of support will help most. We pay attention to interests, passions, and the conditions under which someone thrives.
Areas for Assessment
Attention & Executive Functioning
Concerns about ADHD, organization challenges, task initiation, and inconsistent performance.
Emotions & Behavior
Clarifying concerns about changes in mood, emotional intensity, avoidance, and other patterns that feel confusing or unexpected.
Learning Difficulties
Concerns about academic skills development that affect classroom performance and confidence.
Autism & Social Communication
Sensory differences, social nuances, flexible thinking, masking/camouflaging, rigidity, and questions about neurodivergent identity.
Standardized Testing
Making recommendations about standardized testing accommodations and providing targeted feedback regarding a student’s support needs based on their test-taking approach.
Complex Diagnostic Questions
We specialize in supporting clients with differential diagnosis, answering complex referral questions, or conducting re-evaluations.
Steps of an Evaluation
Evaluations are a process with many steps, involving close collaboration between our team and your family.
1. Intake
A 60–90 minute conversation to understand your goals, story, and concerns.
2. Background + questionnaires
We gather records, teacher input, and symptom ratings to build context. For kids, we schedule a time to observe them in their classroom environment.
3. Testing sessions
3-4 hour sessions (usually two) paced for focus, comfort, and emotional regulation. We include movement breaks, fidgets, and a calm, kid-friendly environment.
4. Interpretation
We integrate test findings with developmental history, behavior observations, and lived experience.
5. Feedback meeting
We explain results clearly and collaboratively, connecting the dots between what you’ve been seeing and what the data show.
6. Written report
A strengths-based, actionable document that can be shared with schools or other providers.
7. Follow-up support
As you begin implementing recommendations, we are here to help with next steps.
